Louis Vuitton × Hatsune Miku: Vocaloid Opera The End
The Vocaloid opera The End by digital music artist Keiichirō Shibuya and starring Hatsune Miku was held in Shibuya on May 23 and 24.
A new and unorthodox type of opera, neither human singers nor orchestras performed onstage. Instead, Vocaloids and digital technology replaced them for the opera. What’s noteworthy here is that Marc Jacobs, artistic director of Louis Vuitton, designed the costumes for The End. Outfits from the 2013 Spring/Summer collection, featuring the yellow and white checkerboard Damier pattern, made their appearances on stage. Original outfits were also specially designed for Hatsune Miku.
Many celebrities including artistes and models attended the preview performance. Their fashionable outfits are certainly worthy of your attention.
While shows for The End in Japan are unfortunately over, further performances are scheduled to take place in Paris in November.
Hatsune Miku is a singing synthesizer application with a humanoid persona, developed by Crypton Future Media. It uses Yamaha Corporation’s Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 3 synthesizing technology.
