I love wigs! Did you know that in Japan it is perfectly okay to wear wigs as fashion accessories? When I first found out about this I was shocked! I’ve always loved changing my hair color and style, but usually at a salon and only once in a great while. Well, in Japan girls love to change their hair so much that they often just wear wigs, extensions, or even clip-in bangs! This allows women to have hair that is both acceptable for work and fun! At work and school most women keep their hair a shade of dark brown or black, and they rarely style it. School is even more strict. But after work or on the weekends it’s easy to just toss on a wig and have a whole new look!
I currently own three wigs. A long brown one with thick bangs, a short blond bob, and a long dark red one with side-swept bangs. I wear them for fun, during modeling photoshoots, and I even wore one in my sisters wedding!

I didn’t get to go to the Spring/Summer TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION this year! I was so sad to miss it, but thankfully everyone at Fashion JapanTwo took these amazing photos (which can be found on our front page just below my blog!) and I was able to see some of the amazing brands and fashions despite not getting to to. I’m sharing here with you some of my favorite shots and outfits! I am getting so sick of winter and looking at these photos makes me want to dress in spring clothes so badly! It’s still pretty cold here in Tokyo, so right now dressing like this is just a fantasy. But hopefully in a few more weeks I can say goodbye to my winter clothes!
Fashion Week is coming up soon here in Tokyo, and I will be going to that! So keep a look-out for photos and posts featuring Fashion Week! I will try to take a lot of photos to make up for my absence as of late.

Today I decorated my friend’s nails. I usually decorate my own, but I wanted to try doing someone else’s nails. Thankfully my friend was really excited about having me do her nails and she said yes! She wanted something fun, but simple, so I gave her one of my favorite designs… it’s what I like to think of as snow or stars falling from the sky.

I always use CANMAKE nail polish when I do my nails, so I used the same for hers. I love CANMAKE so much! I’ve found that CANMAKE has really high quality nail products despite the low price. CANMAKE also has a large selection of colors polishes, glitter polishes, and nail care items. Today we used a basic clear top/bottom coat and my favorite silver glitter which has small pieces of silver glitter mixed with larger pieces of prism glitter (which shows you all of the colors of the rainbow like a prism!) I always start with a bottom coat and end with a top coat of CANMAKE’s Gel top, but I didn’t have it with me today.

Top coat (was also used for a bottom coat) and silver prism glitter.

This is what we started with… just normal nails. I’ve never used gel nails before, so I did just a basic manicure.

I started with the clear top coat first and my friend was so happy! She said that it felt like she was a celebrity at a high class spa! We laughed a lot at this because we’re at work! But apparently taking a few moments to relax and do your nails is enough to make any girl forget about work for even a few minutes.

After the top coat we had to wait for it to dry… but thankfully that didn’t take long because CANMAKE dries REALLY fast! I always do my nails after work, almost right before going to bed, so quick drying polish is really important for me. I usually test the dryness of the nails by dabbing at them with my fingertip… it’s easy to tell if it’s still wet because your finger will stick a little. But I’ve actually found that if the bottom coat is a little sticky that the color coat stays on better. Just make sure it’s not TOO wet, or the color wont spread easily.

Once the top coat dried I started to add the glitter. Please look closely at the pictures… I didn’t cover the entire nail with glitter! I started from the middle of the nail and painted towards myself, covering only half of the nail with a thin coat of glitter. I did this with all of the nails, not caring too much about making each one perfect. I think that if each nail matches too closely then it doesn’t really look that similar to snow or stars… I wanted an image of falling, and if you watch the snow fall, it does not all fall the same way…

After the first coat of silver dried I started to paint just the tips of the nails, making the glitter thicker right at the tips, trying to mimic a french manicure. I wanted the glitter to be thicker at the tips of the nails because it looks like the sky… if you think about the way snow falls (or stars, if they started to rain down from the sky in the form of beautiful sparkles) it’s much thicker at the top, thinning out as it reaches the ground… this is the image that I had while creating this design. So I took a lot of time filling in the tips with lots of glitter. Once the glitter dried I finished by putting another clear coat of top coat on top to seal all of the glitter on.

And the finished product! What do you think? Does it look like falling snow (or stars)? I love doing my nails like this because it’s simple and elegant, yet still a little different from how most people do their nails. I’m far from professional, but my friend was really happy with the results!
Would you like to do your nails like this? If you do try out my design please let us know! I would love to see photos of your nails and your own designs!

Who loves PURIKURA?!
Here are some of my favorite purikura photos of myself with some of my friends here in Tokyo. What do you think? I really love decorating the pictures after taking them… you can usually tell which photos I did because they are always covered with sparkly designs.
How many of you have taken purikura before? Do you know what it is? Well, for those of you who don’t know, purikura is a special type of photo that is popular in Japan! Basically you have your own private photoshoot in a booth with your friends. It costs about 400 yen (5US dollars) and you can take around 6 photos. The machines are amazing… you can select how you want your skin and eyes to look (most machines make your skin look lighter or darker, and your eyes look bigger if you want) and then you can follow the suggested poses on the screen or do your own!
After you’ve taken the photos you leave the booth and go into a separate corner where you can use computer screens to decorate your pictures. I love this part because you can change your hair color, add messages, or write anything you want on them.
When you’re finished decorating the purikura you can select to have the digital versions of the photos sent to your phone (you need a Japanese cell phone to do this) and then you just wait for the photos to print! They print out on sticker paper, so you can cut them up, share them with your friends, and decorate your own things with them.
Purikura is so much fun, and I love doing it after meeting with friends for coffee, shopping, or lunch. Please try purikura if you come to Japan!

This past week has been so busy! So today I took a moment for myself and checked out some of my favorite fashion magazines. Do you know NYLON and ELLE Girl? I love these magazines because they feature both Japanese and Western fashion. When I lived in the USA I used to always check out the English version of these magazines, so looking at them here in Japan makes me feel really happy.
Did you know that many fashion magazines come with free gifts? This is one of my favorite things about Japanese fashion magazines. Elle Girl came with a free Hello Kitty nail file as a gift this time.
What do you think about these winter styles? I have been loving all of the tall boots and long coats this season.
Which fashion magazines do you like?
